Welcome to the Internet home of the Cape Fear Hash House Harriers. We are a drinking club with a running problem. CFH3 has been laying trail and causing general debauchery in and around Wilmington, North Carolina since 2006.
“Hashing” was founded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1938, when a group of British colonial officials and expatriates founded a running club called the Hash House Harriers. Runs were patterned after the traditional British paper chase. A “hare” was given a head start to blaze a trail, marking his devious way with shreds of paper, all the while pursued by a shouting pack of “Harriers.” Only the hare knew where he was going . . . the Harriers followed his clues to stay on trail. Hashing is a mixture of athleticism, sociability, and hedonism, all in search of mayhem, debauchery, and the ever elusive “Beer Near.”
CFH3 meets the first and third (and 5th) Saturday of every month (regardless of the weather) at 2 PM for a 2-5 mile trail. CFH3 is open to all levels of fitness and mayhem. Cost is $5.00 to cover beer (must be 21 or older), ice and other beverages. Bring a whistle and a change of dry clothes.
